A gloss is the quickest way to make color look new again. At BR Collective, our Gloss & Finish is a sheer, plant-derived glaze that revives your tone, softens brass and adds mirror shine, finished with a blowdry. Like every color service we offer, it uses ammonia-free NATULIQUE color made with certified-organic ingredients, with no upcharge.
What does a hair gloss do?
A gloss sits on the surface of your hair and adds a sheer layer of tone and shine. It’s the fix for color that has gone flat, brassy or dull, and for natural hair that just needs a little more life. It doesn’t make big changes to your color. It refreshes what you already have.
- Brass and warmth: cools down blondes and highlights that have turned yellow or orange in the sun.
- Faded color: brings back depth and richness to brunettes and reds between full appointments.
- Dullness: adds shine, which is easy to lose in Wilmington’s sun, salt water and humidity.
- Grays: softens and blends a few grays without a full color commitment.

New to BR? A gloss is a lovely first visit. It’s a low-commitment way to meet us and see how ammonia-free color feels.
Who is a gloss for?
Almost everyone. It’s especially good if you have highlights or balayage and want to stretch the time between appointments, if your color fades quickly, or if you’ve never colored your hair and want a little more shine and richness without changing your look.
Frequently asked questions
How long does a gloss last?
Most people enjoy their gloss for about four to six weeks. It fades gradually, so there’s no harsh line. Sulfate-free shampoo, cooler water and UV protection help it last longer.
What’s the difference between a gloss and a toner?
They’re closely related. Toner usually refers to adjusting tone right after lightening. A gloss is what we use on its own to refresh tone and shine between bigger color appointments. Our add-on Gloss / Toner Refresh does both jobs.
Will a gloss damage my hair?
No. A gloss is one of the gentlest things we do, and our color is ammonia-free. Most guests leave with hair that feels softer and looks shinier than when they came in.
How often should I get a gloss?
Every six to eight weeks works well for most people, or halfway between your highlight or color appointments. We’ll suggest a rhythm that fits your hair and your calendar.
Where are you?
You’ll find us at 2451 S College Road, Suite 211, Wilmington, NC 28412. We’re open Tuesday through Saturday, 10am to 6pm.
